Hi Slingshot,
Just a quick note to say thank you for the birthday gift of your music
CD “Welcome to Guyana”. I am amazed at the power of the words in your
songs - total inspiration to me - what a moving song is Angels Crying.
As I write this there are tears rolling down my cheeks. All your other
songs make me very home sick. I may be living in the mighty USA but my
humble heart was left in my country - what a foolish decision I made
back in 96.
I share all your memories of our dear home Guyana. The words of Bourda
Market Bounce are so familiar to me that I can place me right in the
middle of your song as Bourda is where I shopped. What can I say of your
MASH music - wow - good thing I can still do my thing and do justice to
the lively road march Pirates.
I can understand very well why you and your music are so loved. No
wonder they were shouting "Slingshot for President" on Mash Day. Your
songs are a longing in every Guyanese heart.
What else can I say? Give my regards to my country on your return and
thanks for your undying friendship. I truly am grateful that you took
time to remember my birthday.

Dear Mr. Slingshot,
I'm writing on behalf of my father because he does not have an email
address.
I am enquiring to know when will you release your CD ‘My El Dorado
Dream’ to buy in Guyana? I have been to a few music stores and they do
not know. I telephoned Channel 12 Tony Vieira's station and they could
not tell me anything.
Look forward to hear from you,
Yours sincerely
Olivia Ross.

Hello John:
Greetings and best wishes for the weekend. This is to let you know that
I have received the CDs you sent. This will become part of my listening
project this weekend. At the moment I am entering my Guyanese music
collection into a data base. I am currently entering 6 X CDs by John
"Slingshot" Drepaul.
All of this is part of another phase in the writing of the book on music
in Guyana during the 20th century. I hope to complete the first draft of
the work by the end of the year. The ambition is to have the book
published by 2008.
In the meantime, keep on composing and making your wonderful music with
the uplifting messages.
My regards to Ingrid and the girls.
Peace,
Vibert
