comments: Hello Slingshot great site and real massive works. As a Guyanese we are proud of our artists. I'm also a singer/producer keeping the fire burning in Brasil, where I have a large following. I'm wondering how we can get our music distributed so our folks can buy Guyanese artistes the way Jamaicans do. I've recently released in the USA my latest CD, but need also to get it in Guyana etc. Once again we need to WORK together. One love to all your fans also!

comments: Hi John … Good website..!

I got your address and info from Patrick Ramnarine. And, yes, you’re right … your days at # 63 Beach were live heaven on earth, and you had a very formative and blessed time. I would not trade the Skeldon experience for any other … simply priceless. It’s been a long time.
I played in the band with Rawle Farley and a few other blokes, at Wong-Wee in the late 60’s/early 70’s … I don’t believe that you’ll know me. Cause I was a little punk at the time. I remember you as that slick “Lonely Bulls” dude”.
You guys did pretty good…! I know Rudy and Stanley. If you wish to contact Stanley, I’ll drop you his email. He lives in Spain. Guess he’s looking for “The Lonely Bulls”. Or the “Bulls” are calling.
That is so very generous of you to impart your private time and experience on your “Tropical Waves” website.
Talk to you soon

Talk about getting around! Dan man doan stann easy! haha Slingshot's voice is powerful and sexy and his music is wonderful. One song that I can remember is the song “Berbice Girl”. His music makes you homesick. You must listen to it. Ow man when he sings the words "Beautiful Guyana" - it makes me tear up everytime!! Nice love ballads and ting too. Check it out!
Slingshot is real and his lyrics are pretty clean - even when he loss he pussy cat! - No falseness in him and quite a sense of humor. His wife works with him and that I love - the family togetherness which is portrayed on his website and in his music makes them winners...like "Beautiful Island Girl...Oh YES!!

Slingshot,
What a name! How come you make such a choice? Let me guess.
A slingshot can shoot only a short distance. But think of it, you always aspire to attain lofty goals in life. Why shoot so low? I give up.
You have always dedicated yourself to music. As long as I know you were strumming your guitar until you master the instrument. Today I am impressed with your music. I am not surprised at all. You always have it in you.
Keep on strumming. I hope I am using the word ‘strumming’ correctly. The musical world may have a different term. You love music; it is ingrained in you. It is not only a part of you. It is the whole of you.
Wish you and your family well.
Joe Khargi.

comments: Hey Slingshot, it was very fortunate for me to lay my hands on all four of your CDs and was pleasantly surprised after listening to your advancing musical artistry. Listening to your CDs leads me back to distant memories many years ago to No 63 Village (The Beach House) and under the bottom house of the Sukhram family - at No 64 Village where I first heard the famous song “Oh when the saints go marching in”, a rendition you performed with such virtuosity on the accordion. Though then, I doubt whether I was able to recognise your true potential in this field, and I guess, with hindsight, at that time, this was your idea and a way of entertaining young and naive children such as myself and friends. Clearly you have now moved forward in a truly meaningful way and fully entitled to all the applauds in your direction. From myself and my family to you we extend richly deserved compliments for your achievements. Additionally, I can see your musicals contributions are clearly devoted to Guyana and its people throughout the globe. All the best and keep up the good work.

Hi John…
[…] I had a first look at the DVD music, scenery, and was pleasantly surprised with the presentation etc. You obviously excel in this musical kind of environment and seem to enjoy what you are doing. It leads me once again to agree with my view of you being the only Drepaul hogging the internet globally. And all of this due to something you are happy and comfortable with. Keep up the good work and you will achieve all the benefits you deserve. On a more positive note … does this not give you personal satisfaction that you got to where you are all on your own?
I have picked out one or two scenes of interest i.e. the No. 63 Beach and a part of No.66. […] Did I notice part of the scenery was Kilmarnock, and the grandparent's place was partially in view? […] I did however recognise Neville Budhan. Still looks the same facially no doubt older. Was Shamboy in any of the clips? I do not know if I could recognise him. […]
As always regards to all the family

John Drepaul, known as Slingshot, brought the audience to life with one of his electrifying performances with a variation of soca/calypso improvisation hits during the launching of George Maharaj's book entitled "The Roots of Calypso" at the L'Amoreaux Community Centre in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada on July 4th.
It was indeed a smashing performance by Slingshot, and from the reaction I saw from the crowd everyone was having a swinging time..
It was certainly a pleasure to meet John in person.

I live in Campbellville, Georgetown, Guyana and I really really enjoy ur music videos. It comes directly to my home via television. I'm promising myself everyday to get the cds with ur videos sometime when I remember. I love to sing but that is just not a talent of mine. Some are just fortunate to have that talent, so count urself fortunate. Just keep up the good works ok and bring some joy into homes and lives of Guyanese.
All the best.

comments: Hi,
[…] I do miss the Guyanese people and the songs etc. I am always trying to relive those memories but it is difficult...when there is not many Guyanese where I live. […]
I can relate to the name "Slingshot". I am orginally from Berbice (Seawell). […] I left in the late 1970s and have returned several times ...the last in 1999. And I did visit the famous # 63 Beach!! There!! There!!
All the best with the music!
