STRAPS WITH STRAPS: THE POSITION OF THE BUTTONS
Three solutions exist to wear your pants with funky suspenders:
– having made your pants at a tailor, without a passerby, specifying that you will wear it with suspenders
– have pants without passers-by and that you will take to the retoucher or local fashion designer to add buttons
– add detachable buttons, which can usually be ordered with the shoulder straps
The question then arises of wearing these buttons inside or outside of the pants: comfort would necessarily tell us outside (since it is not necessarily pleasant to have buttons that rub against the skin) .
On the other hand, the decency of the beginning of the 20th century, which wanted suspenders to be considered as underwear that is not shown, suggests wearing these buttons inside.
Fortunately, manners have evolved since then and even style icons like Gary Cooper wear these buttons outside.
As for the detachable buttons, these are often pretty aesthetic metal buttons, which I think can be worn without apparent problems.
II INSPIRATIONS AND STYLE TIPS
CASUAL CHIC AND GENTLEMAN FARMER OUTFITS
These two illustrations by Andrew Mashanov (an illustrator whom I adore, I invite you to consult his Instagram account @amashanov) show two casual outfits with suspenders:
Here in a casual chic outfit (illustration for the Superglamorous brand): the straps bring a touch of color and are coordinated with the lining of the jacket. They are worn with high waist pants, with double pleat.
Here another casual outfit (it shows especially with the buttoned ends of the shirt): here the bright green suspenders echo the forest green and the red socks and register the outfit in a Gentleman Farmer style.
DRESS OUTFITS WITH STRAPS
The strap is above all an accessory: it therefore frames the outfit in terms of colors: here its light brown is a transition between the dark brown of the tie and the light gray of the suit. The forest green fasteners give character to the outfit
In this second photo from @theficusmen, the suspenders confirm the summer register of the outfit with much more shimmering tones. The suit is here a priori in linen, and the knitted tie shows that we are not in a very advanced degree of formality. So we play with the colors by allowing ourselves a green that can almost be described as flashy to match it with the knitted tie, the blue and the quieter red go together with the shirt and the jacket.
Adapting the colors of her suspenders is a confirmed tip in this photo from @shibumifirenze: the outfit is obviously summer with her solaro suit and the light background of the shirt. We allow ourselves a downright flashy green stripe to echo the solaro, and other more sober stripes to balance the tout
WHAT ABOUT PLIERS?
It is still possible to wear it, but the rendering is only visually interesting for me when the outfit is already ultra sharp in terms of finishes. Clip-on suspenders are a good solution with loaded pants. It shows in particular on this photo from @theficusmen:
